Owner's Manual for your Headshots

Now that you’ve had your headshot taken, here’s some info on what to do with them! Contact us if you have any questions.

How long the gallery is up

Your online gallery will remain online for about 2-3 months. If you need to access the photos again after it’s taken down it can be reinstated, but file recovery fees will start to take effect if you need your gallery or your chosen files re-sent 1 year or longer after your shoot date.

How long Organic Headshots saves the photos

Make sure you save your photos in a safe place- they are now your responsibility. If you received a .zip file with your photos, make sure you unzip the files using WinzipWinrar, or other extracting software. If you can’t unzip them, contact Michelle. If you have an online gallery, it will be available for approximately 2 to 3 months, then will be taken down. Organic Headshots archives all photos indefinitely, but does not guarantee against catastrophic data loss. We have back-up systems in place, but it is impossible to be completely protected against possible corrupted files, hard drive failure, loss, etc. If you need Organic Headshots to re-send your photos, we will be happy to do so. However, there will be recovery charges for sending your photos if you request them 1 year or longer after your headshot session.

High resolution vs. low resolution

You were most likely sent photo files as high resolution .jpgs (at least 300 DPI and about 8×12 inches) and fit for print. Use these images for everything you need, especially when you print them on paper, in a magazine, brochure, or other printing use.

If the files are too large for any of your uses and you cannot shrink them down on your own, let us know and we’ll send you lower resolution files for web only. Also let us know if you have any file size or type guidelines given to you by your office, a publisher, web designer, or other production department.

SUPER TIP: If you email the high resolution images to someone, make sure you are including them as an attachment and not pasting them into the body of the email. Some email programs will compress and shrink the photos and make them low resolution when pasting them in the body of the email.

Good places to use them

Use your headshot everywhere! No, seriously. Use your headshot like your own personal logo. Think of it as branding your face. If you use the same headshot for all of your social media profiles, website bio pages, for articles you write, speaking engagements, press releases, etc., then people will start to recognize your photo and thus, recognize you quickly and easily.

Leave Organic Headshots a review!

PLEASE let us know if you aren’t happy with any of your photos at all or the experience was less than you desired. If you think we didn’t work hard enough to get a photo you can be proud of, we will be happy to retake all the photos and we’ll start from scratch. It’s important to us that you walk away with a photo of yourself that you absolutely love. We’ve taken many headshots for people who say they came to us after HATING photos they had taken with another photographer, and we aim to never be that “other” photographer. So feel free to call or email us with any concerns over your photos.

Leaving us a review or testimonial will help us out more than you can imagine! We get the majority of our new clients through both referrals and web searches – so spreading the word about your experience keeps us behind the camera where we belong.
